Welcome Collectors and Friends to the October 2017 Robyn Feluch Art Newsletter For those of you that are new friends, let me introduce myself. My name is Robyn Feluch and I am an Okotoks based, up and coming, visual artist that specializes in glass (both blown and casted) and painting. With my painting, I take my inspiration from surrounding landscapes and animals of the prairies with an emphasis towards painting horses and buffalo’s. In my glass art, I am fascinated by shapes and colours and take my inspiration from the colours I see in nature. Life – As a visual artist, I strive to capture not only the moment in time but the essence of that moment in time. The feelings, the motivation, the spirituality of that moment. So it has been exceptionally frustrating this year as my brain has just not functioned as it should have. In October 2016, during one of my classes at ACAD, a kiln door was dropped on my head resulting in a concussion and a minor traumatic brain injury. The resulting problems and struggles are still ongoing and are not that entertaining, so I won’t go into them but this whole “brain in a blender thing” has given me a new appreciation for the value of a clear mind. Along with that, I have realized that with every cloud, comes a silver lining. For me, the silver lining was the need to extend my degree over 5 years instead of 4 which will result in the opportunity to take advantage of the college’s very expensive equipment before I am off on my own. And this gives me one more year to save up the $30,000 that I will need to build a modest glass blowing and casting studio. So my advice, to anyone going through a bad time, is to look for the blessings that come intertwined with the hardships.
